Operation Swing State (“we,” “us”) is a volunteer-led coalition of Illinois Democratic parties, labor unions, progressive advocacy groups, and volunteers. This policy explains how we handle information when you visit operationswingstate.com (the “site”).

Information we collect

Information you provide. When you sign up for a volunteer shift, subscribe to our newsletter, or make a donation, you provide information such as your name, email address, phone number, and ZIP code. These forms are operated by the third-party services described below.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we and our service providers automatically collect certain information when you use the site, such as the pages you visit, the links you click, the website that referred you, your browser and device type, and your general location (for example, city or region). We use this information in aggregate to understand how the site is used. We do not store your IP address.

How we use information

• To operate, maintain, and improve the site.
• To understand which pages and volunteer opportunities are most useful.
• To measure the effectiveness of our outreach, including on social media.
• To communicate with you, if you have signed up to hear from us.
• To comply with legal obligations.

Cookies and similar technologies

We and our service providers use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies for analytics and to measure our advertising and outreach. These providers, which may include Google and Meta, may collect information about your use of the site under their own privacy policies. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, use browser extensions that limit tracking, or opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site will continue to work if you do.

Third-party services

Volunteer sign-ups are handled by Mobilize under its privacy policy, and donations are processed by ActBlue under its privacy policy. Our newsletter is managed by our email service provider. We do not receive or store your payment details. The site may link to other websites; we are not responsible for their privacy practices.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers who help us operate the site and our programs, with coalition partners when you sign up for an event they host, or when required by law.

Data retention and security

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described above and use reasonable safeguards to protect it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Children

The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any message, and you can manage your Mobilize account and communication preferences on Mobilize. To ask about information we hold about you, contact us below.
