Our coalition partners

What the coalition is

Operation Swing State is a volunteer-led coalition founded in 2024 by Patrick Hanley and Ben Head. Chicagoland sits within a few hours' drive of some of the most competitive races in the country, so our partners pool their members, volunteers and networks to send Illinois Democrats where their time counts most: knocking doors in Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa and Indiana, plus phone banks from home and local postcard parties. In 2024 the coalition filled about 10,000 volunteer shifts and knocked roughly 250,000 doors. We're back for the November 3, 2026 midterms.

How groups partner with us

No two partners do the same thing. Ward and township organizations recruit their precinct captains and members onto weekend carpools. County and state parties and advocacy groups promote shifts to their lists. Student groups organize campus trips. Unions and campaigns co-host canvasses and phone banks. Every event is listed on our Mobilize page and in the event finder, credited to the group hosting it, so a partner's members can find a shift in a couple of clicks. OSS handles the logistics that are hard for one club to manage alone: carpools, staging locations, turf, scripts and first-timer training.

Want your ward organization, township party, union local, chapter or campus group to join? Message us on Instagram or Facebook and tell us about your group. Partners are listed on this page with a link to their own website. If you're already a partner, linking to operationswingstate.com from your site helps your members find a shift. Individuals don't need a group: just pick a volunteer shift.
